Trekking Tour Laugavegur

The Laugavegur is a famous trekking route in South-West Iceland from the hot springs area of Landmannalaugar to the glacial valley of Þórsmörk. It is noted for the wide variety of landscapes that are experienced in just 55 km.


Day 01 Welcome to Iceland!

Arrival at Keflavik Airport
Meet and assist by our representative at the ”exit door” at the airport
Drive to Reykjavik with the fly bus for your first night’s stay in Iceland. Depending on your arrival time, we recommend that you make a stop at the famous Blue Lagoon on the way and have a swim in the geothermal warm water.

Overnight stay in a guest house in Reykjavik.


Day 02 Reykjavik - Landmannalaugar

Breakfast and departure from the guest-house
You will be picked up at 07:15 hrs. to 07:45 hrs. in the morning and driven to the beautiful rhyolite area Landmannalaugar where you will spend the afternoon with a relaxing walk through this colorful landscape.
A black obsidian lava stream forms a magnifique contrast to the green, white, red and yellow hills.
Here in Landmannalaugar is one of the few possibilities to take a bath in a natural hot pool, surrounded by this fascinating landscape.

Day 03 Day walk

Landmannalaugar (600m) - Hrafntinnusker (1100m) - Álftavatn (530m)

You will start early this day for a long day ahead of you...
At first, your hiking path is slowly uphill until you get to the hot spring area of Storihver which lies fascinating between the yellow, red and black lava.
Before leaving Thorsmörk, you will climb the hill Valahnjukur for a good view over the valley, the glaciers and rivers ascinating between the yellow, red and black lava.
As soon as you pass Hrafntinnusker, you will have a great view and walk on the plateau until you descend to Lake Alftavatn and your hut for this night.

Day 04 Emstrur (500m) - Þórsmörk/Langidalur (200m)

Breakfast in the hut
The walk starts East from the hut through a colourful canyon and you will have a great view to the Myrdalsjökull glacier. You cross the river Sydri-Emstruá on a bridge and the trek runs easily along the river Markarfljot.
The closer you come to the Green Valley of Thorsmörk, the more you understand why Iceland is called the Country of Contrasts.
Before reaching Thorsmork, you will need to wade one river.

Day 05 Þórsmörk – Reykjavik

Breakfast before leaving Thorsmörk
You will climb the Hill Valahnjukur for a good view over the valley, the glaciers and rivers here.
You will walk into the small canyon Stakkholtsgja and find there a very beautiful waterfall.
You pass by a small Glacier Lake and perhaps you will even see some icebergs swimming in this is lake. Driving along the Green South Coast of Iceland, you come back to Reykjavik.

Day 06 Departure

Morning breakfast
Transfer to Keflavik Airport with the Airport Shuttle Bus for the departure flight back home
